Hair Length Origin
Shorthair Australia
The Australian Mist, formerly known as "Spotted Mist", proudly wears the label "Made in Australia". The breed was developed using burmese, abyssinians and domestic tabbies. They make excellent pets for every age group, as they thrive on human company, are very tolerant and are disinclined to scratch.

Type: Well balanced, with moderately "foreign" type - no characteristic should be extreme in any way. The males may be slightly larger than females, developing fully by two years of age.

Temperament: Extremely affectionate, suits all ages, just happy to "fit in".

Coat: Markings are delicate, though distinct from the paler, misted background. Rufous tonings are evident, but full colour is not obtained until 2 years of age. Texture is short, glossy, dense and resiliant. Body markings should be of symmetrical spots of any size or shape over the sides, flanks and body.

Colours: Brown, blue, chocolate, cinnamon, lilac, and fawn

Head: Of generous proportions and comparitively broad, it is carried on a well defined neck.

Eyes: Large and lustrous, upper eye lid straight, lower curved, wide apart, slanting towards the nose. Clear delicate shadings of green from chartreuse to aquamarine.

Ears: Large, flared, wide at base with rounded tips. Set low on the head and tilted slightly forward.

Body: Medium in length, hard and muscular, heavier than it appears.

Legs and Paws: Proportionately strong, hind legs slightly higher than forelegs. Paws - neat and oval.

Tail: Long, thick with minimal taper; well furred.

Faults:  White toes; blue, amber or orange eyes; pattern on flanks obscurred by overmasking (resulting in lack of definition).
